Holiday Valley Ranked 2nd in East by SKI Magazine

November 1, 2021

Holiday Valley Resort has been ranked number 2 in eastern North America by SKI Magazine readers for 2022. Subscribers received a survey in March to rate their favorite ski resorts in several categories. Results were tallied and Holiday Valley came out second in the east, a ranking that resort president, Dennis Eshbaugh, says, “…is quite an accomplishment. Our founders would be very proud of what they started 64 years ago. We have worked hard over the years to continually reinvest in the resort and provide a good work environment for our employees. And then there’s Ellicottville which provides the après experience with great dining, shopping and nightlife. But there’s one thing that can’t be purchased and that’s the friendly attitude of our staff and all the locals that puts the visitor’s experience over the top. We are humbled and honored by our customers’ loyalty.”

The ranking of 2nd is the highest that Holiday Valley has ever achieved. Perhaps it was partially due to the pandemic and skiers having to stay closer to home last year, but as SKI Magazine wrote, “placing value in good, kind service, clean and welcoming lodges, and a truly communal vibe isn’t all that crazy after all. Because at the end of the day, skiing is more than just the act of sliding down a hill.” This is the 15th time Holiday Valley has been in the top 10 in the east since 1999. Holiday Valley excelled in many categories including snow, grooming, guest service, access, lodging, après ski, nightlife, character, lifts, dining, family friendliness, value, and overall satisfaction. Rankings in those categories will be announced by the magazine online over the next few weeks.

The 2022 Ski Magazine top ten resorts are: 1- Smuggler’s Notch, Vermont, 2- Holiday Valley, Ellicottville, NY, 3 - Killington, Vermont, 4 - Mont Tremblant, Quebec, 5 – Mad River Glen, Vermont, 6 - Jay Peak, Vermont, 7 – Whiteface Mountain, New York, 8 – Cannon Mountain, New Hampshire, 9 - Sugarloaf, Maine, 10 – Sugarbush, Vermont.
