Your Turn Women's Clinic

January 24-25, 2024 

Holiday Valley Snowsports School is featuring the 10th annual YOUR TURN women's clinic on Wednesday and Thursday, January 24 and 25, 2024 led by Lisa Ballard, a widely acclaimed coach and ski racer and assisted by several of Holiday Valley's finest women instructors. Intermediate skiers who can ski the blue squares through advanced skiers who want to take their skiing to the next level will benefit from this clinic. The clinic will begin at 8AM with registration and breakfast. Pre-registration is advised as attendance is limited. Questions, call 716-699-3506. 

It includes 2 days skiing with Lisa and the other instructors, video analysis, equipment info, demo equipment, continental breakfast and lunch both days, door prizes, and dinner on Wednesday followed by a presentation to help you ski with more confidence. Did we mention fun? You'll also meet other women with similar goals on the slopes and have a great time getting better!

Clinic Schedule

The clinic will include a continental breakfast each day, talks about ski equipment and proper boot fitting, 2 lunches and one dinner, plenty of skiing with Lisa and HV Instructors, video analysis of each participant, demo equipment and door prizes! Lodging and lift tickets are not included, but are available at special rates. Here's a tentative schedule, that is subject to change as needed.

Here's the plan: 

Wednesday, January 24th 

8-8:30AM Sign-in and breakfast - Explorer / Maple Leaf Room 

8:30-9:30AM Presentation on “Trends in Women’s Ski Gear”. Select demo skis. 

9:30-11:30AM Ski with your group and your instructor. Have fun! 

11:30AM-12:30PM Video analysis - Explorer / Maple Leaf Room 

Noon-1PM Lunch - Explorer / Maple Leaf Room. Select new demo skis. 

1-3:30PM Ski with your group and your instructor. Have more fun! 

3-4PM Return demo skis. Video analysis – Explorer / Maple Leaf 

5:30-6:30PM  Presentation on building confidence on the slopes. 

7-8PM Dinner - Private Room at John Harvard's 

Thursday, January 25th 

8-8:30AM Breakfast - Explorer / Maple Leaf 

8:30-9AM   Presentation on "Gates 101". Select demo skis. 

9-10AM Meet at the GS course to inspect it and run it in sections with Lisa 

10AM-Noon Ski the GS course as much as you wish, then head onto the rest of the mountain with your instructor. 

Noon-1PM  Lunch. Select new demo skis. 

1-3PM  Ski and have fun in a specialty clinic of your choice. 

3-4PM Return demo skis. Door prizes and wrap up - Maple Leaf / Explorer. 

About Lisa Densmore Ballard

Lisa Densmore Ballard has been involved in many aspects of the ski world. A member of the U.S. Ski Team in the late 1970’s and a six-year veteran of the Women’s Pro Ski Tour in the 1980’s, Lisa has competed in ski racing for most of her life. Today, she is a standout on the international master’s circuit. She finished the 2023 ski season ranked 1st in Super G and 2nd overall in the world. She stopped counting her national titles across all alpine disciplines when the tally topped 100 several years ago. US Ski and Snowboard has named her "Masters Skier of the Year" six times. 

In addition to competition, Lisa has been a highly regarded ski instructor and coach for over 30 years. During the 1990’s, she was the instruction editor for Snow Country and then Mountain Sports & Living magazines, introducing and refining ski technique on shaped skis in the United States. Lisa was Director of the Snow Country Ski Schools and later the RSN Alpine Excellence training centers in conjunction with the PSIA Alpine Demo Team. At the same time, she founded the Head-Subaru Women’s Ski Clinics which have now become the YOUR TURN Women’s Ski Events. Over 8,000 women have had breakthroughs in their skiing while taking Lisa’s clinics. Lisa has also coached numerous junior and adult race programs over her long career and currently directs 6 masters race camps across the United States and in South America in addition to her women's ski clinics. When she's not traveling to a camp or clinic, you can find her coaching in Montana at her two home mountains - Big Sky and Red Lodge Mountain. 

In addition to helping people improve on-snow, Lisa has written hundreds of articles and produced and hosted numerous television shows on skiing. She has covered the sport for networks such as ESPN, Fox Sports, ABC, NBC, CBS, A&E, The Weather Channel, The Travel Channel, PBS, and Outside TV. She has served as a consultant to many ski gear manufacturers and ski resorts on their women’s products and programs. She has written 13 books, including Ski Faster! Guide to High Performance Skiing and Racing, a top-selling ski instructional book.
