Gem Mining at Holiday Valley

Holiday Valley added a new attraction to Sky High Adventure Park in 2018, the Mister Happy Gem Mining Company. Targeted to children as young as 2, the experience mimics old fashioned panning for gold. Each miner purchases a bag of sand that contains either gems or fossils. The contents of the bag are dumped into a mining pan. Miners wash the sand away with water that flows through a 65 foot long sluice and the treasures are left in the pan. An identification card is included for children to learn more about their gems or fossils.
Mister Happy Gem Mine is located at Sky High, near Holiday Valley’s Tannenbaum Lodge. Hours are daily from 11a.m. to 6 p.m. daily through September 2 then weekends through October 27. The cost is $8 for a 3 pound bag of gems or fossils and shark's teeth and $12 for a 5 pound bag of gems or $22 for the Motherlode 10 pound bag.
A Grand Opening Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 11a. m. Special prizes will be hidden in the mining bags on that day including a season pass to Holiday Valley’s summer pool complex.
Holiday Valley’s Sky High Adventure Park also contains the Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster for ages 3 and up, the Sky High Climbing Forest for ages 5 and up and the Sky High Aerial Adventure Park for ages 7 and up, along with a snack bar and picnic facilities.
