Celebrate Summer at Holiday Valley

June 13, 2019

The beginning of July marks the birthday celebrations of both Canada and the US with Canada Day on July 1st  and Independence Day on July 4th.  Holiday Valley and the Village of Ellicottville, New York celebrate both holidays with the Summer Festival of the Arts, scheduled for July 5th through 7th.

Live music and entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at “Stroll the Streets” in the Village.  An Arts and Crafts show takes place both Saturday and Sunday from 10a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jefferson Street.  The annual Pet Parade on Saturday at 11a.m. gives anyone and everyone a chance to be in a parade and show off their pet.  It’s the quintessential small town event.  Live bands perform at Holiday Valley’s poolside Cabana bar both Saturday and Sunday afternoons leading up to the headline performances both evenings.  Saturday night's show kicks off at 7 p.m.  with Caitlin Koch, a Buffalo native and up and coming national singing star.  The main show features Don Felder, formerly of the Eagles, Grammy Award winner and Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame member.  Listen for favourites including Victim of Love, One of These Nights and, of course Hotel California!  The Buffalo Philharmonic performs for Sunday evening’s concert featuring patriotic music, the 1812 Overture and Sousa marches accompanying a grand fireworks display.

In addition to the festivities visitors can golf the Double Black Diamond Course at Holiday Valley with 18 challenging and scenic holes, climb at Sky High Adventure Park, zip down the mountain on the Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster, cool off and relax at the pools, Cabana Bar and Game Deck, and mountain bike and hike the trails at the resort and in the state forest.  And perhaps best of all, a visit to Holiday Valley gives Canadians a chance to get out of the city and relax in the fresh air and uncrowded hills around Ellicottville.

The entertainment in Ellicottville continues through the summer and fall.  The Jazz and Blues Fest takes place July 26th to 28th where you can wander through the village and choose from a variety of Jazz and Blues performance areas in restaurants, bars and nightclubs and on the streets.  August 10th and 11th brings the annual Taste of Ellicottville, where the many fine restaurants of town bring their specialties to the streets.  The Rock ‘n Roll Weekend is scheduled for September 13th to 15th in the Village with live music, a classic car show and, of course, an Elvis performance.  Everyone’s favourite, Fall Festival is October 12th and 13th with a street fair in the Village and chairlift rides at Holiday Valley.  Leading up to the ski season, Holiday Valley’s Beer and Wine Festival weekend is November 8th and 9th with Friday night’s Trucks ‘n Brews party and Saturday’s beer tasting event.
