The Green Season at Holiday Valley 2019

April 15, 2019

Spring has officially arrived at Holiday Valley as the golf course has opened and they prepare the many other summer attractions to open soon.  A visit to Holiday Valley in the “Green Season” gives Canadians a chance to get out of the city and relax in the fresh air and uncrowded hills around Ellicottville.  Visitors can golf the Double Black Diamond Course with 18 challenging and scenic holes, climb at Sky High Adventure Park opening May 3rd, zip down the mountain on the Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster opening May 17th, cool off and relax at the pools, Cabana Bar and Game Deck opening May 25th, and mountain bike and hike the trails at the resort and in the state forest.

There’s so much to do at Holiday Valley and in the surrounding area.  The walkable and charming Village of Ellicottville is chock full of eclectic shopping, dining and fun.  The Gazebo Series in the town square provides weekly summer musical entertainment for the whole family.  Spruce Lake at the top of Holiday Valley is a moderate hike up from Sky High Adventure Park.  Guided standup Paddleboarding kayaking and fly fishing are offered at Spruce Lake on weekends through Adventure Bound on the Fly.  There are 35 plus miles of mountain bike cross country singletrack in the state forest adjacent to Holiday Valley that have been rated “Epic” by IMBA.  Holiday Valley has a fleet of non-motorized and e-bikes for rent to use on a 1 mile moderate uphill and 2 mile downhill flow trail.  The road biking on the rolling terrain and quiet country roads surrounding Ellicottville is fun and challenging.  Ellicottville Oasis Spa located inside Holiday Valley’s Tamarack Club offers a selection of massages, body wraps, facials and nail care.  Griffis Sculpture Park in nearby Ashford Hollow features over 250 larger-than-life sculptures dispersed through miles of hiking trails.  Allegany State Park in Salamanca is New York’s largest state park offering hiking, camping and outdoor recreation.  The Amish Trail is a driving route through old order Amish communities that have shops for quilts, wooden toys, baked goods and hand crafted furniture.

Several festivals and events are planned for Ellicottville and Holiday Valley throughout the summer starting with the Happy Half Marathon on May 15th.  Holiday Valley’s 8th annual Mudslide Obstacle Trail Run on June 15th is muddy fun for the whole family.  The Ellicottville Paddlefest on June 22nd and 23rd kicks off the summer paddling season at Spruce Lake.  The Summer Music Festival from July 5th to 7th presents Don Felder, formerly of the Eagles live on stage at the base of the slopes on Saturday night and the Buffalo Philharmonic and a grand fireworks show on Sunday night.  July 26th to 28th is the Jazz and Blues Weekend and August 10th and 11th is the popular Taste of Ellicottville.
