March Break at Holiday Valley

February 5, 2018

Ellicottville, New York, February 1, 2018 . . . March Break is just over a month away and Holiday Valley Resort in Ellicottville has special family packages and several fun March events that appeal to Canadians of all ages. Visitors to Holiday Valley can enjoy slope side lodging, a variety of trails, and fun places to eat, shop and play, and it’s only 3 hours from Toronto.

The resort’s 60 slopes and 13 lifts are spread over four different mountain faces with pockets of interesting terrain hidden throughout that are especially interesting to young skiers and snowboarders.  Happy Glade, with a gentle pitch and tightly packed evergreens leads to a secret fort in the woods.  Kid-size moguls are on the moderately pitched Morning Star Slope. Penguin Hill has non-intimidating rails and boxes that are low to the ground. Holiday Valley’s Snowsports School is the perfect place for kids as young as three to learn to ski.  Day Care operates daily and can be combined with lessons.

The Tamarack Club and the Inn at Holiday Valley offer ski-in, ski-out access and indoor/outdoor heated pools and hot tubs.  Slope side and nearby condominiums offer additional bedrooms and kitchens. Weekday lift and lodging packages include free lift tickets for up to two children, and guests receive 80 cents on the dollar when paying for lodging in Canadian cash or cheque.

Winter Carnival on March 10th and 11th kicks off March Break week with games, contests, races and parades.  Highlights include on snow contests for kids, a costume parade and a parade on the main street of Ellicottville, lots of cookouts and the always popular Dummy Downhill event.

The Holiday Valley Tubing Park is open through the week of March Break from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Tubing is all of the fun of old fashioned sledding, without the walk back up the hill.  The Tubing Park has 22 groomed lanes and two tows, a bonfire pit and a warming hut with a snack bar and game room.  Children younger than seven and under 42 inches tall have their own special “Little Tubers” area.

The Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster is open Fridays through Sundays from 11AM to 6PM.  The Sky Flyer is a thrilling ride in a one or two person car that zips down banked curves, over humps, around loops and round about corkscrews.  Children from age 3 through 7 must ride with a parent.

Cabin Fever Fest is Tuesday, March 13th.  Special low priced lift ticket vouchers valid on March 13th are sold at participating ski and boarding shops in Ontario. A Rail Jam at the Fun Rail Park and a cookout are planned for the day.
