Ellicottville, NY - October 10, 2025 - Holiday Valley Resort is taking another step forward in guest service innovation with the introduction of a new RFID-based ticketing and access system, powered by SKIDATA, a leader in mountain resort access technology. Beginning this winter, Holiday Valley visitors will enjoy a modern, streamlined experience for purchasing lift tickets, picking up passes, and accessing chairlifts.
While Holiday Valley has offered RFID ticketing the previous two winters, a decision was made this past summer to transition to SKIDATA as its new technology partner. The move was driven by a variety of factors, including improved reliability and scanning of cards, which will enhance fraud protection. Most importantly, the change will deliver a smoother and more convenient experience for guests, from ticket pick-up to lift access.
SKIDATA works with ski resorts worldwide, and this partnership places Holiday Valley among a fantastic group of destinations investing in the latest technology to enhance the guest experience.
“Holiday Valley is excited to partner with SKIDATA to bring this advanced technology to our guests,” said Dennis Eshbaugh, President and General Manager of Holiday Valley. “This addition to the resort is designed to help make the skiing and snowboarding experience here even more convenient and enjoyable while also enhancing data integrity and reducing fraud.”
Guests should stay tuned for announcements this fall regarding RFID card pick-up details. Monday, November 10is the target date to begin printing passes.
As part of the upgrade, Holiday Valley will install SKIDATA’s sMove Wave gates at the Yodeler, Chute, and Sunrise lifts. These gates are designed to improve lift line efficiency and ensure smooth, seamless access for every skier and snowboarder with a valid ticket or pass.
The remainder of the lifts will see a new hand scanning system for ticket and pass verification.
Guests will also benefit from ticket pick-up options. Once lift tickets have been purchased online in advance or on-site, skiers and riders can retrieve their RFID cards from the new self-service kiosks (Skiosks) located throughout the resort, including:
- Base Area outside the Customer Service Building
- Lower level of the Main Lodge (adjacent to the Rental Shop)
- Outside Yodeler Lodge
- Outside Tannenbaum Lodge near the Sky High building
- Snowpine Quad (across from the Snowpine Parking Lot on Rt. 219)
Lodging guests at The Inn at Holiday Valley, the Tamarack Club, and Rental Management guests will also have convenient access points for ticket pick-up.
RFID Card Use and Guidelines
- Guests must have a valid ticket or pass loaded onto their RFID card before riding any lift.
- Only one RFID card may be carried per guest.
- Cards should be stored securely on the left side of the body in a pocket free from interference by phones, keys, or other cards.
- RFID cards should not be hole-punched; damaged or lost cards are subject to a $25 replacement fee.
Lift tickets may be canceled up to 72 hours prior to arrival for a full refund, offering flexibility for guests planning their trip.
