Who are you? What do you do at HV and how long have you been working here?

I’m Rich Sandler and I’m the General Manager of the Tamarack Club.  I’ve been here since June 2009.

 What do you like more, summer or winter? Why?

I like the fast pace of the winter and all of the families that we host.  

 What is your favorite thing about your job?

I really enjoy the variety, you never know what the day will bring in this business.  Some days it’s catching up on paperwork other days it’s a lot of guest interaction and sometimes it has nothing to do with Tamarack and I’m helping out another department or working on a special project.

When you’re not working, how do you enjoy spending your time?

My wife and I like to travel when we can, I love to scuba dive.  I enjoy spending as much time with my grandkids (4) as possible.  

If you’re off work and having fun with friends at HV, what are you doing?

These days, if I’m spending leisure time at HV, I’m golfing.

Most underrated thing to do at HV in your opinion?

Snowshoeing.  While I’ve only done it a few times here, it is a blast.

What’s your best HV memory?

When I was injured in 2020, the outpouring of support from everyone was overwhelming.  So, the support is my best memory, not the injury so much.

In your opinion, what makes HV special?

It goes back to the last question, it’s the people.  While guests see the buildings, golf course, ski slopes and lifts, they often don’t see the people behind the scenes that make it all run.  We have a great group of team members here and they are backed up by a Board of Directors that, in my opinion, truly care about the staff.
