Dash Hegeman

blog_kyle-benish250web.jpgThe staff at Holiday Valley prides itself on having unique personalities, a love for guest-centric customer service and perhaps above all, having fun. They are part of the experience that makes visiting the resort such a memorable experience. This Staff Series is an opportunity for you, our valued guest, to get to know some of our staff so that the next time you are visiting the resort, you’ll feel even more at home as a result of “getting to know” some of our staff.

Who are you? What do you do at Holiday Valley and how long have you been working here?

I'm Kyle Benish, a PGA Certified Golf Professional. I am 1 out of 1,335 PGA Certified Golf Professionals in our business of 27,000 PGA Members in the world. I’m also an ADM Certified PGA Coach and the first 3-time WNYPGA Assistant Golf Professional of the Year.

My title at Holiday Valley is the 1st Assistant PGA Golf Professional and I have worked here since 2004.

What do you like more, summer or winter? Why?

I am a Golf Professional so I am partial to summer vs. winter but I have skied since I was a small child.

What is your favorite thing about your job?

My favorite part of my job is all the different hats a PGA Golf Professional wears. A day in our business is never boring.

One of the most enjoyable things is seeing a player for the first time hit a great golf shot or a player who has been struggling to get their swing back and see that smile light up their face.

When you're not working, how do you enjoy spending your time?

I enjoy spending time with my family, working in my garden and playing with my dog outside.

If you're off work and having fun with friends in Western New York, what are you doing?

Playing golf with my wife and boating on Chautauqua Lake are my favorites.

Most underrated thing to do at Holiday Valley in your opinion?

Enjoying a sunset anywhere on the property with your closest friends.

What's your best Holiday Valley memory?

My first date with my wife, where we played golf.

In your opinion, what makes Holiday Valley special?

The special part of Holiday Valley is the close-knit/family atmosphere, knowing people’s names and making people feel like they fit in, while also offering all the great activities that we do.
