Mr Happy Gem Mining logoMister Happy Gem Mining

Kids will love to pan for gems at the Mister Happy Gem Mining, located at Sky High.  Cost is $10 for a 3 pound bag of gems,  $14 for a 5 pound bag of gems or $25 for the Motherlode 10 pound bag.

Targeted to children as young as 2, the experience mimics old fashioned panning for gold. Each miner purchases a bag of sand that contains either gems or fossils. The contents of the bag are dumped into a frame with a screen on the bottom. Miners wash the sand away with water that runs through a 65 foot long sluice and the treasures are left in the pan. An identification card is included for children to learn more about their gems or fossils.

Climbing Forest
The Climbing Forest is like a 3-D version of a climbing wall and the only one of three in the US. It was designed by Franz Muller of Monkey Hardware, a German company and Bahman Azarm of Outdoor Ventures. Outdoor Ventures is also the designer of Sky High Aerial Park. There are 9 trees outfitted with color coded climbing holds and the difficulty ranges from very easy (yellow) to very challenging (purple). Each climber is fitted with a harness that is clipped into an Auto Belay system. Once a climber reaches the top of the tree at up to 45 feet, they just let go and the belay system slowly lowers them to the ground. The minimum age to enjoy the Climbing Forest is 5 years old and 30 pounds. There is also a kids’ area with two trees where the youngest climbers can climb about 6 feet up and climb back down. The Climbing Forest is open weekends starting May 7, daily starting June 18 and again weekends starting Sept 10 through October 31, weather permitting. https://www.holidayvalley.com/summer/sky-high-adventure-park/climbing-forest-kids-activities-new-york/
