Lodging FAQs

Are there hair dryers in the rooms?

There are hair dryers in all of the Inn and Tamarack Guest rooms. If you're staying in a condo, best bet is to bring your own.

Are there kitchenettes in the rooms?

The Suites at the Inn have microwaves but for a Full kitchen you would want to choose one of our Rental Properties or the Tamarack Club suites. The Sugar Pine Lodge suites include mini-refrigerators and wet bar.

Can we have a Late Check out?

Given the high occupancy levels of the Ski Season it is rare that we are able to extend late check out.  You may call the front desk the day of your departure to inquire.  We honor this request whenever possible but in the winter months it is rare that we can.

Can we use the Inn or Tamarack's amenities if we are lodging in a condo or off site?

Sorry, the Inn and Tamarack amenities including the pool are reserved for registered guests exclusive use.

Can you pay to use the pool?

Only registered guests may use the pool, except guests of Falling Waters Spa at the Tamarack Club, who may use the Pool and Hot tub on the day of their appointment.

Do repeat guests get a special rate?

All of our guests are important to us.  Sign up for the Last Minute Club for notification of special deals and last minute availability.

Do we have to bring our own Linens, paper towels etc when staying in the condos and private homes?

We provide linens and paper towels for our Tamarack and Rental Management Guests use during their stay.  Please bring any groceries you would like for your visit.  Firewood is provided for guests of SnowPine Village. The fireplaces in Tamarack are gas. Wood bundles and firelogs are for sale at the Rental Management Office for other units.  Please note some of our units have gas fireplaces – no fuss no muss!

Do you provide babysitters, or do you have a babysitting service?

We have a babysitter list that is collected by our Day Care Center.

How do we get an early check-in?

Due to our high occupancy check in begins at 4pm each day. While we try to accommodate requests for early check in when possible, frequently we are not able to allow occupancy prior to 3pm.  We recommend that you pack your gear so that you can hit the slopes while you wait for the check in time to begin.

If we book online is the rate the same as making a phone call?

You will save by booking on line through www.holidayvalley.com

Is it worth while to be placed on the waitlist for cancellations?

Yes it sure is, as we receive cancellations of reservations, we offer available rooms to those on our wait-list first prior to opening the room up for sale to the general public.

Should we make our reservation far in advance or can we book last minute?

We always advise making advance reservations, we are frequently at full occupancy. But, if you are able to make last minute plans, give us a call and we might have just the spot for you! Or we can recommend other hotels, b&b's or lodges nearby.

What are the hours for making lodging reservations?

During the Ski Season Central Reservations is open Daily from 8:30 – 10pm.  ONLINE reservations can be made 24 hours a day

When can we make reservations for 2013-14?

At the Inn and Tamarack, we open up availability on the first of the month for the same month next year.  So on Feb 1, 2012 you can start booking for the month of Feb 2013. At Holiday Valley Rental Management, we start taking reservations on June 1 for the upcoming season.

Where do I check-in?

If you are staying at the Inn at Holiday Valley or the Tamarack Club, look for the portico entrances and the front desks are right inside. If you are staying at one of our rental properties through Holiday Valley Rental Management Service, go to the Holiday Valley Realty/Rental Management office on Rt. 219/Trillium Way, just a mile south of the Village of Ellicottville. We’re located within the Wildflower Townhouse development.

Will the shuttle take us to town?

There is no shuttle service to the Village, but a taxi service is available at (716) 375-TAXI.

Kid's FAQs

Can we drop off our child before class begins or pick him/her up later?

Yes, you can drop your child off at the Holiday Valley Day Care Center, and our Mountain Adventures staff will pick them up when it is time for class to begin. After class we can deliver your child to the Day Care Center. The cost for a total of 2 hours is $28.

How do we prepare for a trip to the slopes?

This topic covers physical as well as mental preparation. If your kids are excited about skiing and taking a lesson (that means being away from you), the rest is easy. Remember, everyone is different, and some kids are ready before others.

  • No reservations necessary unless you are booking a Cub Kadet lesson for age 3, or a lesson combined with Day Care.

  • Make a check list of all the necessities (mitts, goggles, hat, etc.) and don't forget car toys and food. Each child can have their own special bag that they prepare and load in the car the night before.

  • Get plenty of rest, and wake up in time to have a full breakfast. Fuel in the body is key to staying warm!

  • If you're staying overnight at Holiday Valley, you (or Dad) can pick up the lift tickets and class materials as early as 8 AM at Creekside.

  • Plan to arrive at Holiday Valley about an hour before class time so you have time to park the car, have a bathroom break and register without a last minute rush. There is a 5 minute drop off zone at the top of the steps above the Creekside Lodge.

  • When it's time to say good by, be cheerful and confident knowing that your kids are about to learn a lifetime sport in the hands of well trained and caring instructors.

Is evening child care available?

After a full day in Mountain Adventures, your kids will need some rest, but you're ready for a nice dinner and some fun in Ellicottville! We can provide you with a list of experienced babysitters who will come to your room. Call 716-699-2345, ext. 4418.

Is lunch provided to my child during all-day lesson sessions?

Lunch is included in the all-day sessions. Hot lunches are served Monday through Friday. Sandwiches are served weekends and holidays. Special dietary needs can be accommodated. Please let us know when you register.

Should I borrow a neighbor's ski equipment for my child?

It is really important to have properly fitted boots, well tuned skis or snowboards and properly adjusted bindings, not only for comfort but also for safety. The newest equipment also makes it easier to learn, so make it easy on yourself and your child and rent equipment here. For kids in Mountain Adventures, the rental shop is conveniently located in the Creekside Lodge. You can rent a helmet at Creekside too.

What can we do with our equipment overnight?

You don't have to load everything back in your car! Here are some options.

  • If you plan to be here a lot, rent a seasonal locker in the Holiday Valley Lodge. The rate is $250.

  • There is an overnight ski check adjacent to the Creekside Lodge that operates weekends and holidays.

  • Inn guests have a special ski closet located right outside your room.

  • Tamarack Guests have a ski locker room.

What should my kids wear for Ski School?

All that really matters is that they are comfortable. That means warm, but not too warm, and dry.

  • The outside layer should be an insulated waterproof, wind resistant material top and bottom.

  • One pair of good quality wool or synthetic material socks is enough to keep feet warm.

  • Mittens are much warmer than gloves, and make sure they are waterproof and have a good cuff to keep out the snow.

  • Goggles are important because they keep faces warm and shade the eyes from snow and sun.

  • A neck-warmer helps keep heat in and snow out.

  • A helmet or hat... that is your decision, just be sure it fits properly and covers the ears.

  • Your kids can be creative with the inside layers... spider-man pj's or ballet tutu, as long as they are comfortable and happy.
