What's the Mudslide?
The third annual Holiday Valley Mudslide is a mudrun that's FUN. Yes, you'll get muddy, yes there is running, yes there are 9 obstacles but NO fire, NO barbed wire and NO electric shocks! The 3.5 mile course starts at the top of the mountain at Spruce Lake (we'll even give you a ride up on a chairlift) and runs along the ridgeline then down the hill. The 5.4 mile course adds a bit of uphill running, just in case you're feeling especially tough.
There is a max of 2000 competitors. Registration is $60 for the 3.5 OR the 5.4 mile run through June 1, 2014. The Kids' Race is $5 (up to age 12), register for kids at the Yodeler Deck. Day of race registration is not available. Yodeler Lodge. You must pre-register before June 1 to be guaranteed a t-shirt. All competitors will receive a goody bag and a super cool finisher's medal plus a hot dog and 2 beers (or beverages). If you're thinking about entering...do it now because we're limiting the field to 2000 competitors. Preregister here on Active.com.
The Friday night packet is from 4PM to 8PM at the Yodeler Lodge. This is also the last chance to register for the event. Saturday packet pickup is from 8AM to 11AM. Be sure to allow at least an hour before your start time to get to the start.
The event will start in waves of 100 people per wave at 10AM from Spruce Lake, beninning with the long course runners. A ride to the start on the Spruce Lake chairlift is included in the entry fee. Please allow 45 minutes to get from the base to the starting line at Spruce Lake! Spectators may ride for $5. Click Here for a course map with obstacle marked. The 3.5 mile course goes from Spruce Lake, across the cross country trails to the top of Eagle, down Woodstock, across Explorer to Morning Star then through the woods and across Mardi Gras, down Holiday Run to Edelweiss and finish at the Training Center. The short course elevation has a drop of 600 feet - downhill! The 5.4 mile course adds a loop from Eagle across to Cindy's, down a logging road to lower Bear Cub and back uphill to Explorer. This section is so steep we've installed ropes to help you scramble up! You'll navigate eleven obstacles along the trail and the final challenge is a giant mud slide down lower Yodeler. Your medal will be awarded at the finish line. Prizes will also be awarded to the overall 3 fastest males and females. Chip Timing and matt starts and finishes will be in place this year. Check out this fun video showcasing a few of the obstacles.
The Kids' MiniMudslide course is 1/2 mile long and will include 2 obstacles plus the mudslide. Start and finish is at the Training Center. The miniMudslide takes place after the Mudslide is complete, approximately 1:30. Register your child on the Yodeler Deck for $5.
Check in and a bag check is from 8AM to 11AM at the Yodeler Lodge. After your run you can shower under the snowguns and changing facilities will be available. The post-race party to end all parties features entertainment by DJ John Barry, hot dogs, beer and craziness. Families and supporters are welcome to attend, and there is food and beverage available for purchase.
