Headstands for Humanity
October 4, 2014Headstands for Humanity is a really cool and fun event that’s happening for the second year at Holiday Valley on Saturday, October 4. It is an attempt at breaking the Guinness Book of World Records for the most people doing a headstand simultaneously in one place. Mike Paterniti (who loves to do headstands in unusual places) is coordinating this event and he’s trying to get over 400 people involved. The location is the Holiday Valley Driving Range (behind the Burger King, across the street from HV) and the actual event starts at noon, although participants should arrive by 11:00. The cost to participate is a minimum donation of $10, although people are encouraged to get additional pledges which will be donated to the Holiday Valley Lounsbury Adaptive Ski Program and the Ellicottville Great Valley Recreational Trail fund. There will be prizes for teams with the most number of participants and the biggest fundraisers. The participants have to stand on their head (at the same time) for 30 seconds, so everyone is encouraged to practice ahead of time. More info is available at www.headstandsforhumanity.com. The site even has a tutorial on how to do a headstand and how to practice for the big day.
