Summer Activities

Summer at Holiday Valley is a refreshing change of pace. The cool green hills of Holiday Valley are a welcome respite from the hot hustle-bustle of the city. Visitors of all ages can enjoy the recreation, festivals and atmosphere of Holiday Valley and Ellicottville in the summer.

Number 10 GreenGolf - It's a whole new game at Holiday Valley with the recently renovated 6500 yard Double Black Diamond Course. Each hole was completely redesigned by Golf Course Architect, Paul Albanese and the completed course was nominated by Golf Magazine as one of the best redesigns of the year for 2009. Golf packages with lodging are available at the course-side Inn at Holiday Valley, the brand new Tamarack Club, or any of our rental condominiums and townhouses.

Golf School - The renowned Phil Ritson/Mel Sole Golf School at Holiday Valley features PGA Pro, Pat Hoffman. With a maximum of 4 students per class, you are sure to improve your game.

Golf Practice Facility - This 15 acre facility includes a driving range with 10 covered tees and 50 grass tees and multiple target practice greens and bunkers.

Inn Pool SummerPools - Our new $1 million 3-pool complex features a toddler pool, a lap pool and an activity pool with a slide and diving board. The pool facility is beautifully landscaped with plenty of multi-tiered sun decks. Poolside food and beverage service is available from the Cabana Bar, McCarty Cafe and John Harvard's Brew House. The pools open May 29 and will operate weekends through June 18, then daily until September 6.

Mountain Biking and Hiking- Holiday Valley's mountain biking and hiking network consists of challenging uphill and downhill trails, logging roads and singletrack. The trails connect to NYS's McCarty Hill Forest on the southern border of the resort.

Mountain BikingSpruce Lake - The 14 acre Spruce Lake sits at the top of Holiday Valley. There is a beach area at the south end of the lake for swimming. Kayaking and canoeing is allowed. Please note this is a wilderness lake and there are no lifeguards; you are responsible for your own safety. To reach Spruce Lake you can hike or mountain bike up from the Tannenbaum Lodge.

Ellicottville and Festivals - The fun-loving Village of Ellicottville is one mile from Holiday Valley and offers unique shopping and restaurants. Many festivals and events take place through the spring, summer and fall. Go to www.ellicottvilleny.com for a calendar of activities.

Nearby Activities and Attractions - from antiquing to the mighty Niagara Falls, there are many attractions and things to do near Holiday Valley. Allegany State Park and the Seneca Allegany Casino are both 15 miles away in Salamanca. The Griffis Outdoor Sculpture Park is 10 miles north in Ashford Hollow and features giant interactive metal sculptures placed in a magnificent outdoor setting. Horseback riding and horse trails wind throughout Cattaraugus County. Many Amish farms are nearby and they offer handmade crafts such as quilts, wooden toys, garden produce and furniture. Chautauqua Lake and Chautauqua Institution are one hour west in Chautauqua County.
